Awarding a Master's Degree with Distinction

The student Sura Abdul Jabbar Ahmed Hussein has been awarded a master's degree with distinction for a dissertation entitled

”Improvement of Smart Modeling for Solar Collector by using Particles Swarm Optimization Technique and Nano Fluids”.

In this study, enhancement of the performance of an evacuated tube solar collector was achieved using two methods. The first method adopted the using of Nanofluids materials. Two types of Nanofluids were used as an aid fluid. The second method was using an artificial intelligent method i.e. PSO – PID. Experimental results showed the success of these methods where the percentage of improvement ranged about 15-19%  was achieved.

Control and Data Entry in Drone Control Systems

The Department of Electromechanical Engineering at the University of Technology held an electronic workshop through free Conference Call entitled “Control and data entry in drone control systems” For the Assist Prof Dr. Saady Treid Kurdy on Tuesday 5/5/2020

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are a category of aircrafts that can fly without the onboard presence of pilots. Unmanned aircraft systems comprise of the aircraft component, sensor payloads and a ground control site. They can be guided by onboard electronic devices or via control equipment from the earth station. When it is remotely controlled from ground it is called RPV (Remotely Piloted Vehicle) and requires reliable wireless communication for control. Dedicated control systems may be design to large UAVs, and can be mounted aboard vehicles or in trailers to enable close proximity to UAVs that are restricted by range or communication abilities.

UAVs are applied for monitoring and tactical planning. This technology is now available for employ in the emergency restraint field for assisting the crew members. UAVs are categorize according to the altitude range, endurance and weight, and support a widely range of applications involve military and commercial site applications.

The smallest classes of UAVs are often accompanied by earth-control stations composes of computers and other device that are small enough to be carried easily with the aircraft in small vehicles, aboard boats or in backpacks. UAVs that are fitted with high precision cameras can navigate around the disaster area, take photo sand permit the stuff members to implement image and structural analysis.

Awarding a Master's Degree with Distinction

The student Shurooq Juma Ali has been awarded a master's degree with distinction for a dissertation entitled 'Experimental and Numerical Performance Evaluation of Solar Air Collector with Porous Media'

This work investigated the effect of porous media technique on the solar air collector system numerically and then verified the achieved results experimentally. The aim of this study has investigated the effect of porous media technique on the solar air collector system numerically then verified the achieved results experimentally. Numerically, the Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD)  techniques were used to investigate the solar air heater applied to porous media. Experimentally, the tests were carried out indoor by using solar simulators consisted of eight halogen tungsten lamps. The intensity of radiations was controlled throughout two ways potentiometer and mobile. The latter was implemented via Bluetooth by designing, building and implementing the light control system.

The exam committee consisted of  Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdul Latif Ahmed Gad Allah as a chairman and membership of each of  Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Abdul Karim Al-Rawaf from Mansour University College, Dr. Muhammad Qasim Muhammad From the University of Technology and in the presence of student's supervisors both of Prof. Dr. Jalal Mohammed Jalil and Asst. Prof. Dr. Sherine Faiq Abdel Karim.

Awarding a Master's Degree with Distinction

The student Fatima Attia Lafta has been awarded a master's degree with distinction for a dissertation entitled "Modelling and Control of PV panel Performance using an Intelligent Methods and Electromechanical Actuator”. This work aims to increase the throughput of solar panels by increasing cooling efficiency through intelligent control system PID-PSO of the solar panel temperature. Two methods were applied in this study ANFIS and NARX. Experimental results showed the success of these methods where 80% of designing system efficiency was achieved.

The exam committee consisted of  Prof. Dr. Hosham Salim Aneed as a chairman and membership of each of  Asst Prof. Khaled Faisal Sultan from the University of Technology, Dr. Fadel Abbas Jumaa from the Middle Euphrates Technical University / Musayyib Technical College and in the presence of student's supervisors both of Asst. Prof. Dr. Ebtisan Ahmed Hasan and Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Jawad Mohamed.
