History of the Electromechanical Engineering Department:

    The establishment of the EME department goes back to the foundation of the Higher Industrial Institute in 1960. One of its aims was to prepare industrial teachers and technical trainers.

    In 1973/1974 the branches of electricity and mechanics were opened and the construction branch was added to the department in 1977, which continued until 1989, when admission was stopped. The department includes a technology education group that teaches teaching technology materials, as well as some educational courses.

    In 1993/1994, the department was changed to "The Technological Education Department" and started offering Bachelor of Science (BSc.) degree in Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.

    In 1977/1978, graduate studies were established by offering higher diploma degree of industrial education technology in electrical, mechanical, and construction engineering.

    In 1980/1981, the department started offering Master of Science (MSc.) degree in electrical, mechanical, and construction engineering.

    In 1992/1993, the department started offering Doctor of Philosophy (PhD.) degree in electrical engineering and mechanical engineering only.

    In the academic year of 1999/2000, the degree of higher diploma in the field of Computer-Based Engineering Education was established.

    In the academic year 2007/2008, the department's name was changed to "The Department of Electromechanical Engineering" which is one of the modern engineering fields. The offered degree combines electrical engineering and mechanical engineering together in three programs (or branches):
